How would life be if we could prevent another child from being

born with Sickle Cell Disease? And if there were a child born

with it the family would have the education, awareness and

resources in every community they lived in.

My Organization is called What'z Da Count on Sickle Cell Trait

Awareness and our purpose is to re-educate the community about

the sickle cell trait.

HOW: By creating a conversation about this 102 year old

condition and disease.

*creating a mobile testing unit called WDC on SCT Awareness

to provide free screening to the communities we travel to across

the country

*educating our students in schools to listen to their bodies during

exercising or playing sports because our youth are collapsing

during various sporting events and the coaches, teachers and

parents have no idea the gene is even in their family.

*Genetic counseling so that people are aware of the gene they

carry and are able to ask their mate if they have the sickle cell

trait.

*and to take our health serious because we are are not certain

what this one gene is causing in our bodies. It shows up like

fatigue, joint pains, dehydration and heat stroke and in some

cases sudden death.
